Happy Monday friends! We had a pretty low-key weekend over here which is precisely what we all needed. Unfortunately our weekend started off to a bumpy start but things got better quickly.
Friday afternoon we had Bryn’s one-year well-child visit. Apparently our appointment was cancelled though but no one called us. Fortunately I was able to plead with the front desk to fix it because I only get two absences from class and that was one of them. While we were waiting for the doctor Chris and I noticed that Bryn’s 4th toe was pretty bruised. Once the doctor looked at it we all agreed a Xray was in order. Being Friday, the local Xray had already closed so Bryn and I had to make the trek to Fort Stewart ER for her first Xray. She was a gem during the whole thing but we were both exhausted by the time we got home. Thankfully she is just bruised and there were no fractures!
Saturday morning we had to make up ground from our missed errands due to Bryn on Friday. I headed to the grocery store to stock up for the week and it definitely called for a chocolate croissant from Starbucks.
The next fiasco came when Lowe’s came to deliver our new washer/dryer. Chris and I took the plunge on Black Friday to upgrade our machines and I have been joyfully waiting all week. You know you’re a grown-up when new appliances top the list of exciting gifts. Finally they came and got everything set up upstairs only for the washer not to work. WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP. We were assured that a new one would be delivered Sunday so we went about our day.
The girls were amazing this weekend and had a ton of fun playing and hanging out. Emmalyne loves our magnetic advent calendar and it has occupied HOURS of her time this weekend. She puts all the magnets back into the drawers every time and gets excited when she finds Baby Jesus again.
Bryn spent her weekend recovering from various trips/falls through the week. She loves to sit in the Pottery Barn chairs Chris’ mom bought for the girls. She doesn’t care whose she sits in but sure enjoys chugging some milk while relaxing 😉
After a long day Chris and I were able to get the girls down for the night and enjoy a date night in. It doesn’t take spending money and going out to make your marriage a priority – sometimes it’s as easy as sitting on the couch together and watching a movie.
Sunday finally came. We sold our old washer/dryer in the morning and the new washer was delivered by lunch. Unfortunately that was after having to argue with Lowes about getting it to us because they weren’t tracking the delivery ha. Chris and I were like kids in a candy store when we did our first load of laundry. Hello adulthood! I am obsessed with our new set – it’s insane how much laundry the washer holds! Definitely a must for a family of 4 🙂
That’s our weekend in a nut-shell! Nothing crazy exciting but perfect nonetheless. This is my last week of classes for the quarter. I have two exams this week and finals next week and then I am free! WEEE!
What was something fun you did this weekend? Do you get excited about grown-up purchases?
