Happy Monday friends! Is it just me or do weekends go by in an instant?! It seems like there is never enough time to get what needs to be done done as well as all the fun stuff too! Our weekend was super busy (as always) and I am excited to share it with you all today. I think part of the reason the weekend seemed so short is I worked until 9PM Friday night so it didn’t really start for me until Saturday morning.
Saturday we were up bright and early as is the life with small kids and a puppy. Oh, I haven’t mentioned our new puppy on here yet have I? Nope because I have been a mega-slacker. More on her another day. We did pull ourselves together to hit the 10AM class at our CrossFit box for “Linda”. I am well-known for underestimated my abilities and clearly needed to up my weight as I breezed through it too quickly. Lesson learned for next time! I snuck in some handstand work at the end of class and am finally to the point where I am actually holding it unsupported.

After a quick shower it was time to take the girls to get their haircut. I honestly can’t remember the last time they had a trim (3 months ago?) so it was BEYOND time. Both took off several inches which should help with the summer heat. Emmalyne actually wanted to go even shorter but I had to put my foot down.

The rest of the day was spent with errands and getting stuff done around the house. Chris was shocked to see me put on real clothes for the weekend and asked me why I was so dressed up. Note to self – pull yourself together more often. People are noticing the bum-look.

Sunday morning started off like every other Sunday morning in our house – with waffle iron waffles! The girls love helping make them and it’s just a super pleasant way to start the day. It also is super helpful because one batch makes more than we eat and I can freeze them for a quick breakfast for the girls during the week. I simply pop a triangle in the toaster and they are good to go!
Chris spent the morning golfing so the girls and I were on our own. Since I actually work another 13-hour day today (woof) and will miss CrossFit I took them to the gym for a WOD yesterday. I started with some strength training and did 5-4-3-2-1 with increasing weight for squat cleans and then 3×10 for barbell rows. I wrapped it up with the WOD below and had an excellent sweat going.

Everything at the gym was going fine until Bryn decided to hulk-smash my phone and break the screen. Turn out the “glass screen protector” I asked for at Apple was no such thing and was instead just to prevent scratches. To top off the frustration I was actually on-call for work all weekend and a phone out of commission was simply not going to work. I found a cell phone repair place on post and the owner worked magic and had it fixed within 30 minutes. My pocket book is lighter but my phone is functional. It’s a good thing she’s cute.
Yesterday afternoon we took the girls to see Despicable Me 3 and we all LOVED it! It helps that our movie theater has recliners in it. Even wild-child Bryn sat still the entire time. After the movies we finished up pulling the house today, did meal prep, and finished laundry. The girls were worn out and were both asleep by 7PM. I was able to write this post, finish editing some supplemental essays for PA school applicants, and some other stuff too. The only downer is that neighbors are currently shooting off fireworks and I am paranoid that Bryn will wake up!
That’s all I have for today! I know it’s shocking but I actually have posts planned for this weeks so stay tuned!
What did you do this weekend?
Any other moms out there annoyed with the fireworks the entire week leading up to the 4th?
