Every single day we are faced with choices. What should I make for breakfast? Should I got to the gym? Is the extra cookie worth it? Then there come the bigger choices. One of the biggest choices I have made in my life was to marry a Soldier.
Here’s our story:
In high school and beginning of college I always said there was no way I would marry someone in the military – it would be too hard, too challenging, too alone. Then I met Chris … and everything changed.
Chris and I met at a party my sophomore year of college – he was a senior getting ready to graduate. We started talking and things just clicked. Somewhere in that conversation he mentioned that he was a ROTC cadet destined to go active duty in the Army. Psh – didn’t phase me. I wasn’t looking to settle down.
We dated for about five months and then went our separate ways – he wasn’t ready for a committed relationship when he was about to commission. Enter August – he decided to stay an extra semester and we reconnected.
That is when the serious talks started. Could I see myself living the Army life? Was I willing to leave all my family and friends and take a chance on him? I could and I was. Thus leading to this…
