So it has been quite awhile since I last updated this thing and a bunch has happened!
Chris officially switched companies last week and is now the 3rd platoon leader of the 401st MP Company. He will be deploying to Afghanistan on April 20, 2010. This switch kind of came as a surprise to both of us and we are still wrapping our heads around it. I always knew he would deploy but I never thought it would happen quite so soon. It is really hard to think about spending a year without him but I have incredible family and friends to help support me. He will need all the love and support he can get as well. He is excited to get the deployment under his belt but I know he will be even MORE excited to come home from there! I will post updates as they come up on here…
Chris’ mom and dad came to visit us this past weekend. They were our first guests in our new home. It was wonderful spending some time with family. We had a great time relaxing and watching football. Yon cooked up some amazing Korean food as well.
Work is going OK. Teaching is definitely NOT my passion but it is an incredible learning experience. I am learning how NOT to parent my child. LOL. There are some amazing and rewarding days but then there are twice as many where I want to pull my hair out. Luckily they are incredibly supportive there and have promised me time off for Chris’ block leave before deployment.
Chris really enjoys his new company and command team. I am going to be co-leading their FRG (family readiness group). We have a company Laua this weekend which should be interesting.
Anyways that is a condensed version of our crazy life in Texas. More to come soon!
SO – I might one of the worst bloggers ever BUT I figured it was about time for an update on the Glasser household!
First, I have been working now at St. Joseph’s Catholic School for just over a month. I am teaching P.E. and also 4th grade science and health. Every day is an adventure and I feel really blessed to have a good job right now. Since this is temporary, I really wanted to find something with the same working hours as Chris and this job does that. The kids are great for the most part except for a few that I call ‘fallen angels’. I start working on my accelerated BSN application soon for Texas Tech and then hopefully on to UT Austin for a 2 year MSN with a NP route. I am debating what kind of nurse practitioner I want to be but my top choices are: ER, Peds, Peds ER, or neonatal. We shall see!
The new house is treating us really well. EXCEPT Bailey decided one set of our blinds was her new chew toy and ate them. Other than that things are getting pretty settled here in Killeeen. Chris got promoted to a 1LT in June and has been working hard as a platoon leader. Word is he will probably deploy in May to Afghanistan with one of our MP companies as their XO (Executive Officer). I am sad that he is probably going to go but the timing is right and it’s an experience he needs. So it’s all in God’s hands from here and I am ok with it!
Football season has begun meaning the tv has been taken over entirely on Saturday and Sunday and sometimes Monday and Thursday. I am participating in my first Fantasy Football league this year with Chris and our friends so we will see how that goes!
We have been hit really hard the last two days with nonstop rain. It’s great because it has been so dry but it just hasn’t stopped! 🙂
Anyways that is our life in a nutshell for now. I will try to update more!
