Good morning friends! I am off this morning due to the inclement weather coming through Savannah and our classes being delayed until 1PM. Not going to lie – I am enjoying not rushing out the door and it’s an added bonus that Wednesdays are typically my LONG days and I get a break today. The not so great part? We have to make up our classes that we are missing this morning. Gone are the days where we could miss a day and it wouldn’t matter 😉
I’m even more excited today because my dear sweet Bryn is two months old. Where is time going?! While it seems like yesterday we were celebrating her BIRTH day, I also can’t imagine life without her and feel like she has always been with us. These newborn days are going by so quickly and every single day I am seeing more and more signs that she is becoming more active and alert and less sleepy newborn. Make it stop!
Grow Baby Grow!
We were supposed to have Miss B’s two month check-up yesterday but the clinics closed early so that people could get home before the weather was supposed to hit. However, at 5-weeks old she was 11 lbs 4 oz and 22 1/2 inches long. Holy moly – she had grown nearly 4 pounds since birth!
Clothes: Newborn clothes are officially packed away and we are sitting pretty in 0-3 month and 3 month sizes.
Diapers: She’s been in size one this entire month but I just made the change in our delivery for Size 2s!
Now that I am in school I feel like I need to include both of these in her updates. Nursing is still going really well and the rolls in Bryn’s thighs let me know she is a great eater! She’s definitely more of a snacker and likes to nurse for a little bit, take a break, and then nurse some more. Luckily after her second go at it she takes a 2-3 hour break between feedings. I am cherishing our nursing sessions even more since I am away from her all day! When I am gone she is currently taking bottle every 3-ish hours and they’re about 3oz each of pumped breastmilk. On that note – pumping is going really well and my supply is definitely keeping up with her needs (along with some help from my lactation cookies!). Depending on the day I am pumping 1-3 times at school. More on all of this soon 🙂
Right now we are co-sleeping. Chalk it up to one more thing I thought I would never do as a parent. Don’t get me wrong – there are a lot of potential benefits of it – but it just wasn’t something I intended to do. Bryn has determined otherwise. She is a much more snuggly baby and prefers to be close to me all night long. SO – we co-sleep. I figure that co-sleeping is way better than no sleeping so we are going with it. When she is sleeping with me she is pretty much sleeping through the night so I can’t complain. I go to bed around 10PM and nurse her one last time. Sometimes she wakes up for a middle of the night snack or diaper change but mostly she sleeps until my alarm goes off around 5AM. During the day she is becoming more alert but is still taking a good morning, afternoon, and early evening cat-nap.
I’ve said it before but Bryn is a really relaxed and easy-going baby as long as she is dry and fed. Bryn likes to observe the world and is constantly just taking her surroundings in. She is perfectly content just to be – although she prefers to be ON you in some way. Babywearing for the win on this one! Her personality is coming through more each day and recently she’s taken to gracing us with LOTS of smiles. She is just so happy! I can’t get enough of her sweet snuggles, funny faces, and happy noises. Bryn was struck with RSV at the beginning of the month and you would never have known it. She just kept on being her happy self … just with some serious coughing.
This month Emmalyne has really come into her own as a big sister. She wants to hold her baby a lot more and is constantly petting Bryn’s head, saying “Awwww”, getting her a blanket, etc. Sometimes I have to save Bryn’s life from the hands of her sister but that’s just another day in mommyland. It melts my heart to see my girls together 🙂
I feel so incredibly grateful each and every day for the family I have been blessed with. These girls teach me so much about life and I am just so honored to be their mom. It’s been easier than I expected going to school which has helped my heart a lot and left me with a sense of peace. Bryn is just the sweetest little baby and her big sister is an amazing little thing. Emmalyne was my “helper” during the photo shoot. And my helper I meaning stealer of all the books.

Dear sweet Bryn – I love you baby girl. You and Emmalyne my sunshine.
