I really debated whether or not I would document my post baby body progress this time on the blog for a number of reasons, however, in the end I decided to go ahead with it. It was so cool to look back on my journey with Em (all the updates are HERE) and I look forward to doing that with this journey as well. First, I want to say that all pregnancies and post-baby body journeys are unique. Mine is already really different just between my two pregnancies. I love reading other mom’s post baby journeys as a point of inspiration and not comparison.
I plan on sharing more about my actual postpartum recovery on the blog next week but overall I am feeling great. Not quite normal but pretty close to it. My doctor told me I could resume exercising as soon as I feel up to it. While I am not there quite yet I feel like I could be pretty soon!
And some numbers to go with it …
1 Week Postpartum w/ B 1 Month Postpartum w/ Em
High Waist 33 inches 32 inches
Around Belly 35.5 inches 34 inches
Hips 38 inches 38 inches
Thigh 19.5 inches 20 inches
Weight 148.5 pounds 149 pounds
I gained a total of 23 pounds while pregnant and had a starting weight of 140 lbs. My one year postpartum results from Em are what my goal is by one year postpartum this time. I felt extremely proud of my body and happy with the results then and I aim to accomplish the same thing this time.
I feel like things might be a bit different this time around. First, I know what I need to do to lose the weight and build muscle. I didn’t eat enough calories last time and so I am extra aware of that this time. Second, I am starting in a better place than I did last time. I gained 9 less pounds and had more muscle mass this time. That’s not to say there aren’t going to be new challenges. I am a mom of two now and will be starting PA school in January. I no longer will have unlimited amounts of time. I will be working out primarily from home and only when it won’t interfere with what little family time I will have.
I am really excited for this journey. I know that it will be hard but I also know it will be worth it. Thanks for coming along with me!
