I seriously can’t believe that we are here. The third trimester. Someone hold my hand. I’ve said it so many times but this pregnancy has literally FLOWN by. The first few months were rough but here we are. A mere 12(ish) weeks from welcoming our second daughter into this world. Wow.
What is baby up to at 28 weeks?
- Baby is about the size of an eggplant – or 2.25 pounds and 14ish inches long
- She can blink her eyes – which already have cute little lashes
- She is starting to fatten up to get ready for delivery!
How is mama feeling?
Weight Gain: Same as last week … 14 pounds. Feeling pretty good about this number and this point.
Fitness: Last week was AWESOME. I logged 16 miles and managed a couple of CrossFit WODs too. My maternity support belt (more on that soon!) is a lifesaver. Read all about my workouts HERE.
Sleep: I feel like this week the pregnancy insomnia has started to set in. I take longer to fall asleep at night and wake up really early. Plus I am up a few times at night to use the restroom or readjust my position. Fun ways the body prepares you for the needs of a newborn 😉
- A little more tired that I had been recently. I feel like I need a nap some afternoons but more often than not a nap makes me feel worse. Go figure.
- Some leg cramps. Sometimes if I stretch my calves they immediately cramp up. Fun times.
- Braxton Hicks. Still getting this fairly regularly each day.
Movement: Jellybean has been getting some solid kicks in. I am starting to think (hope?) that she is head down because the kicks have been kicker at my stomach with lighter punches lower. She has also been favoring my right side which leads to a humorously distorted belly.
OB Updates: I had my glucose test last week and haven’t heard anything from my OB. I will get my results at my next appointment but if they had been terrible he would have called me. I actually did a Hemoglobin A blood draw instead of the glucola drink this time. The glucola made me incredibly sick last time and I wasn’t up for a repeat experience. My OB was comfortable doing the blood draw instead. I am also officially at the “appointments every 2 weeks” point!
Looking Forward To: Slowly getting the nursery together. We (Chris) put together Em’s new dresser and I have gone through all of Em’s old clothes to sort things for a garage sale and keeping. The nursery dresser is fully loaded with cute clothes. There are some other potentially exciting things happening but you’ll have to wait to hear about them if they come to fruition 🙂
Hope you have a very happy Monday! I always like Mondays in that they are a fresh start for another week. A new chance to make things great!
