Happy Monday folks! I go back and forth on Mondays about being super excited for a new week to start and super bummed that the weekend is over haha. First off, thank you all so so so much for your awesome comments, tweets, and Facebook messages about my acceptance to PA school. I read all of them and truly appreciate the kind words. Our weekend was full to the brim with another beach trip on Saturday and an emergency vet visit Sunday morning (more on that in a minute) and here we are at 23 weeks pregnant!
Excuse the bags under my eyes – this was after we got home from the vet and I felt like I was hit by a bus haha.
What is baby up to at 23 weeks?
- Baby is about the size of a mango – or 11 inches long and about 1 pound
- The blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing
- She is picking up on more and more sounds that will become familiar with her (IE: her sister yelling)
How is mama doing?
Weight Gain: Up one pound from last week to bring the total to 7 pounds. My doctor is happy with my progress so far since I had some serious weight loss to make up for from the hyperemesis.
Fit Pregnancy: Got in 4 days of workouts last week with some running, walking, yoga-ing, and CrossFit. You can read about my weekly workouts HERE. I have been asked a few times lately if I am wearing a support belt yet while running and the answer is no. So far running still feels ok without one but as soon as I start getting uncomfortable I will be ordering one. Any recommendations??
Sleep: The crazy dreams keep coming and I have just come to expect them. I am getting up 1-2 times a night to use the bathroom and sleep with a pillow between my legs for comfort. Still getting in bed pretty early and needing 9+ hours of sleep to function.
Movement: Little girl is starting to pick up the movement a bit and her kicks and rolls are getting much stronger. My belly is starting to move with them which always cracks me up. Kind of makes me feel like there’s an alien in there 😉 I have literally felt her roll all around in my stomach and rotate her position. She’s starting to be a little stinker 😉
Highlight: I had an OB appointment on Thursday and all was well. My OB says that at this point in my pregnancy I am as boring as it gets haha. Heartbeat was sitting at 130 bpm and he was happy with the preliminary results from the anatomy scan. Interestingly, my stomach measured a week behind but he doesn’t think I play by the rules when it comes to measuring since I never measured ahead with Emmie and she was a larger baby and the Jellybean measured perfectly at her scan. Instead, he plans on doing an ultrasound at 36 weeks to get an idea of fetal weight since Emmie’s was vastly underestimated by 2 midwives and an OB. Fun times.
Trigger Update: So I would be remiss not to mention my first baby in this post – Trigger. Trigger is our 5-year-old puggle and my snuggle buddy. Yesterday morning at 6AM he woke me up by his SCREAMING in pain. He sleeps in our bed and we were super confused what could have happened during the night to cause him so much discomfort. Since it seemed to be centered around his neck we put a call in to our vet, Luckily they do emergency on-call shifts on the weekend so we were seen at 8:30AM. The vet thinks he strained a muscle in his neck so now he is on steroids, a pain medicine, and muscle relaxer for the next few days. The meds seem to be helping which is a HUGE relief to me. I hate seeing my furbaby in pain.
Any-who … this is a short week for Chris so we only have to get through 4 days! WEE!!! Hope you guys had a great weekend and an awesome start to the week.
