It’s been awhile since I shared what our typical day looks like. I love reading about how other moms spend their days with their kiddos because sometimes it gives me new ideas etc. So, this is what our day looked like yesterday!
**Emmie was up from 12:30-1:45AM for whatever reason which is not the normal. Our morning was thus a little delayed …
7:30AM I wake up and play on my phone for a few minutes in bed. Get up, drink coffee, do some blog stuff, start breakfast.
8AM Emmie has been up for a few minutes but makes her presence known. It’s a diaper change and out to the kitchen for breakfast. When she’s done eating we brush her teeth, wash her hands, and get her dressed. She then gets to watch an episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse while I clean up the kitchen, make my bed, and get dressed.
9:30AM We head to the gym. Em plays in child care and I get my sweat on. Important for BOTH of sanities 😉
11AM We are home from the gym and Em wants to play outside. We walk the cul-de-sac while she rides her Tricycoo until she wants to push it herself.
1145AM Make lunch for Emmie while she plays in her playroom. While she eats I make my lunch.
12:15PM Diaper change and nap time for the Emster. I grab the baby monitor from my room and go eat my lunch while catching up on reality TV while I eat. 30 minutes later Em is still up … I video-stalk her for a bit and she finally goes to sleep around 1PM.
Nap-time is like a marathon race over here. Over the next two hours I:
- Do 3 loads of laundry, get 2 folded
- Write and submit two freelance projects
- Respond to emails/blog stuff
- Make play-dough
- Defrost pork chops for dinner
3:15PM Em is up. I can normally count on 2 hours of blessed quiet each afternoon. A diaper change later we are on the couch with a sippy of milk snuggling and watching an episode of Mickey Mouse. Em is like me and needs some time to process being awake again before we play.
4:00PM Time for play-dough! This was our first time playing with the stuff and I am not sure why I waited so long. She had a blast trying to roll it out, cutting the shapes, and telling me what the shapes were. We also Skyped with my mom during this time.
5:00PM It’s baking time! We ran out of banana bread over the weekend and that just won’t do. Em and I quickly make a batch of Emily’s whole wheat oatmeal banana bread and pop it in the oven. Em goes back to playing, I wash and chop vegetables for dinner and check with Chris to see if he is going to be home to eat with us. He is!
6:15PM Chris gets home and throws pork chops on the grill while I roast vegetables. Dinner is ready in a matter of minutes so we can sit down, pray, and eat as a family which is a rarity during the week and also some of my good stuff.
6:45PM Chris and Emmie go the living room to play. I finish folding laundry, empty the dishwasher, make my coffee for the morning, and pick up the playroom and living room.
7:15PM It’s time for Em’s bedtime routine. She brushes her teeth, gets lotioned up and in her PJs, and picks up 3 books for Chris to read to her. When Chris is home he puts her to bed since he doesn’t get a lot of time with her during the day. I love hearing them chatter over the monitor 🙂
7:30PM I sit down at the computer with my pregnancy tea to see what all I have to do the next day.
8:30PM Before heading to bed I wipe down the kitchen counters and make sure everything is straightened up. I am wiped from being up the night before so I go snuggle in bed and watch a TV show while Chris works on his homework.
9:30PM Chris comes to bed and lights are out. This is WAY earlier for both of us than normal but he has a 0345 AM alarm set and we are both exhausted from Em being up the night before.
That’s pretty much how our days go. It’ll be interesting to see how much it changes when the Jellybean makes her appearance in a few months 🙂
Is your daily routine pretty typical or does it change day by day?
