First things first … MY DAD IS HOME! He was officially discharged from the hospital yesterday and we are all so flipping happy. It is a MUCH better situation for all of us to have him at home … no more cold hospital rooms, bland food, or poking/prodding 🙂 My dad is such a trooper and is just doing fantastically 🙂 Thank you again to Victoria, Laura, and Paige for helping me out. Make sure to check out their guest posts because they were AWESOME.
On to other things … recently I have been re-thinking my diet a little bit. One of the areas that I have looked into changing is my dairy consumption. Don’t get me wrong … I am not planning on eliminating dairy completely (I love cheese WAY too much), but I have been looking into some non-dairy alternatives to being incorporating into my diet. If you can believe it, up until recently I had NEVER tried any dairy-alternatives?! When I was at the store the other week I thought, what the heck, let’s give it a shot, and picked up Silk Organic soy milk.
Silk Organic Soy Milk is seriously delicious. I got the unsweetened version, but I bet the sweetened is even better. I have been enjoying it as my glass of “milk” at the end of the day and in cereal. You might have noticed if you follow me in Instagram 😉
I love Silk not only for its taste but also for the benefits it provides. Silk soy milk is made from responsibly harvested soy beans and is a good source of protein. Another awesome fact? Silk soy milk is considered “heart healthy“. In light of my dad’s recent condition, maintaining good cardiovascular health has quickly become even more important to me. The FDA actually says that consuming 25g a day of soy protein can help lower your risk for heart disease. Sign me up! Another awesome thing? Check out the bottom right of this photo:
Do you see it? That’s right! Silk soy milk is GMO free! I am a big advocate for “say no to GMOs” and LOVE this. For those that don’t know, GMOs are genetically modified organisms that are added to our foods. There are currently no regulations in our country that require companies to label whether or not they use GMOs in their products. I am so glad when products proclaim that hey are GMO free because it sure helps me make my buying decisions 😉 Way to go Silk!
So far I have been happy with incorporating Silk soy milk into my every day diet. Silk makes coconut and almond milk as well! There are sweetened, unsweetened, and chocolate varieties … yum! Click HERE to see their product line.
