If you follow me on Twitter you may have seen that I tweeted yesterday that I was going to ignore the blog and just spend time with the fam. I barely checked Twitter or Facebook all day and it was liberating! I will probably be doing this more often so if you don’t see me posting some weekends it’s just because I am soaking up precious moments with my amazing family. I’ll be back 😉
Any-who … yesterday we tackled quite a few errands and chores. Before doing that though I was able to squeeze in a 2.5 mile run. It was SLOW and sticky. Y’all (hehe … I can use it now right? I mean I live in Georgia now …) I am so not used to the humidity here. It’s not that I am too hot … I am just soaked while I run. On top of that, the bugs are awful. I was literally coated with tiny gnats trapped in my sweat. Sexy I know. I did get the run done and I did it in 24:24 which was still under 10 minute miles so I’m happy with that.
After showering, because God knows I needed it, we loaded up the Jeep and headed up the highway to Pooler, GA to hit up Sam’s Club.
We just happened to get there around lunch time which meant we were starving. Lucky for us it was Sample Saturday and we tasted our way around the store. My favorite sample was salmon rubbed in a parsley, citrus, and basil rub. It was SO good. We ended up buying the spice so I guess their marketing was effective 😉 We also grabbed some organic spinach, strawberries, blackberries, milk, eggs, and paper products. Oh and don’t forget the diapers … 222 diapers to be exact. Man I love buying in bulk!
After putting our finds into the car and cooler we headed down the road to check out a farmers market I found on Google. Polk’s Plus is conveniently located off the I-95 on Highway 80, Polk’s is family owned and operated and has been for like the last 70 years. I spent some time talking to the family and seriously fell in love with this place!
Polk’s had so many goodies for sale. We snagged some bell peppers, cucumber, peaches, and sweet potatoes for now. I want to go back for the local honey, local milk and eggs, and some of the gorgeous flowers. Polk’s also will deliver produce to your house or work place every week if you sign up for the service! How fun is that? If you are in the Savannah area and haven’t checked Polk’s out yet you should. If not, you’re missing out.
Our errands ended up taking us longer than we thought so we made it home in just enough time to freshen up and change for church. We are trying going to mass on Saturday night now and see if that helps with ourconsistency. We went to our local Catholic church and I was pretty happy with the service. Emmie was quite the chatter box and wiggle worm so half the time I was more focused on her than the mass but thus is the life of a mom right?
After church we fired up the grill and made some delicious turkey burgers! On the side we had grilled corn on the cob and Alexia baked onion rings. Chris said that the turkey burgers need to make a regular appearance in our meal plan. Look for the recipe on the blog soon …. I can’t wait to share!
Emmie is actually 7 months today but I have to take her photos this morning so look for a month update tomorrow. I guess that means it’s also time for me to write my post-baby body update also 😉 This afternoon we are having a BBQ with one of Chris’ new co-workers who happens to live nearby us. I am super excited to start meeting new people and making some friends. Heather is moving here in July and I can’t wait but a few other friends would be nice too 😉
How are you spending your weekend? Have you unplugged lately?
